My my My my

DHYS Baseball Families,

Great news!  We have authorization to go ahead with player evaluations for Rookie league players at Medlock Park fields 7 and 8 next Saturday (Feb 13).  Remember that player evals are not considered tryouts.  They are simply a way for us to get a feel for each player's skill level so that we can attempt to balance out teams when we draft.  FYI, there will likely be a make-up date the following week that is TBD at the moment.

In order to limit the number of people at the park at a time, we’re asking that you pick an evaluation time using the Sign-Up Genius link below.  We’ll have slots for 12 players at a time every 30 minutes starting at 10am until 2pm.  We expect the process to take about 30 minutes per player beginning to end.  Please review the instructions below:

  1. Sign-up for an eval slot HERE.  Please put your child’s name in the COMMENT field.
  2. On Saturday, Feb 13, arrive at the park approx. 5-10 minutes before your slotted time with a glove, bat, and helmet.
  3. Parents should wear a mask at all times.  Players should wear masks when not on the field.  They are welcome to take off their masks when on the field if they so choose.
  4. Sign in at the table near Field 8 and get your nametag.  Place the nametag on the front of your shirt/jacket.
  5. Rather than hanging up equipment bags on the fence or placing equipment in the dugout, we ask that parents hold onto equipment for their children.
  6. Players will lineup outside the fence of the 3rd base side of Field 8 with their gloves.
  7. We will call out 1 player at a time onto field 8.  Separate infield and outfield drills will be conducted on Field 8.
  8. After the player is finished with fielding drills on Field 8, they will move to Field 7 for hitting.  Please wait for them on the 1st base side of field 8 to  walk them over to field 7 (the 2 fields are adjacent).  Take their glove and give them their helmet and bat.
  9. After they hit on Field 7, they are done!

REGISTRATION IS STILL OPEN! PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!  Also, we are still awaiting final word from Dekalb on Medlock field use terms for the season.  Once we receive that, we’ll be able to put together a preliminary schedule.  Please let us know if you have any questions.
